MTSS Reading Pathway

The MTSS Reading pathway includes four levels of placement: Intensive, Strategic, Benchmark, and Advanced. All students are screened using STAR, and those below the 40th percentile are administered the Houghton Mifflin Reading Inventory for placement in the following pathway:

Intensive –Below the 40th percentile on STAR and placement as a Pre-Decoder on the Houghton Mifflin Phonics Inventory: Enrolled in Corrective Reading based on placement test
Strategic – Below the 40th percentile on STAR and below Proficient on the Houghton Mifflin Reading Inventory: Enrolled in Core Language and Read 180/System 44 based on placement test
Benchmark – Between the 40th and 75th percentile on STAR: Enrolled in Core Language
Advanced – Above the 75th percentile on STAR: Enrolled in Core Language with the addition of enrichment activities

MTSS Math Pathway

The MTSS Math pathway includes four levels of placement: Intensive, Strategic, Benchmark, and Advanced. All students are screened using STAR, and those below the 40th percentile are administered the easyCBM Algebra assessment for placement in the following pathway:

Intensive – Below the 40th percentile on STAR and below the 20th percentile on easyCBM: Enrolled in TransMath I, II, III, or Connecting Math Concepts based on placement test
Strategic – Below the 40th percentile on STAR and between the 20th-39th percentile on easyCBM: Enrolled in Core Math with additional classroom supported instruction
Benchmark – Between the 40th and 75th percentile on STAR: Enrolled in Core Math
Advanced – Above the 75th percentile on STAR and the easyCBM Numbers and Operations assessment: Enrolled in Core Math with the addition of enrichment activities or Advanced Math
